Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics
January 16-18, 2015
Rutgers, The State University of New
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the APS
CUWiP@Rutgers (we'll add to this list as time goes on):
- Q: What attire are you expecting for the conference?
A: We encourage business casual attire (including for poster and oral
presentations). Note that we will be indoors most of the time, with a place to
hang a coat, but you may want to bring a blazer or sweater.
- Q: Do I need to be a physics major to attend this conference?
A: You are encouraged to apply if you are majoring, or considering majoring,
in physics or a related field such as astronomy or engineering physics. If
you aren't interested in physics at all, the conference won't be much fun for
- Q: I attended a CUWiP last year. Can I apply to attend another CUWiP
A: The content of this year's conference won't be identical to last year's, so
attending again is an option. However, if we receive more applications than we
can accommodate, preference will be given to students who haven't attended
- Q: I'm a Rutgers undergraduate; do I need to apply?
A: Yes, all prospective attendees must apply by the deadline.
- Q: Will you help me find a carpool?
A: We will send out a list of registered participants after the close of
registration. We hope you can use that list to find other students from your
area to carpool with.
The 2015 CUWiP meetings are supported in part by the National Science
Foundation (PHY-1346627) and by the Department of Energy Office of Science
(DE-SC0011076). Further details are available on the
APS conference website.
