Before you can attend this conference, you must first apply, wait to be accepted, ask for travel support, and register. Here's how to navigate this five-step process:

1. Apply.
Between August 30 and 5pm EDT Monday, October 4, 2021, you should submit an online application at the main APS website. Several of the APS CUWiP meetings may be oversubscribed, so it is very important to complete all parts of the application and to write a thoughtful applicant statement. Priority will be given to applicants who (i) are undergraduate physics majors, (ii) have never attended an APS CUWiP, and (iii) are applying to attend the conference that is geographically closest to their expected locations January 21-23, 2022. Application to CUWiP is free.

2. Wait.
In late October 2021, you'll be notified by email whether you have been accepted, wait-listed, or rejected. CUWiP has become incredibly popular, so to maximize the number of CUWiP participants we can accommodate, we will assign participants to sites based on travel logistics and site capacity (not always to their first choices). Please do not book travel or plan to be at a specific site until you receive an email confirming you have been accepted to a specific CUWiP site.

3. Ask.
Once you've been accepted to a conference, as noted on the logistics page, you should ask your home institution to provide travel funding, since APS CUWiP funding for travel support is limited. If the answer you get from your home institution is "no," you can still ask the APS CUWiP organizers for help as a backup option, by sending an email. Learning to ask for the resources you need in a given situation is part of becoming a professional!

4. Register.
Once you've been accepted to a conference, you will also need to complete an additional online registration form at the APS website and pay a $45 registration fee by November 12, 2021. (If your institution is not paying this fee for you, and paying it yourself would cause financial hardship, you may request a fee waiver by following the procedure explained in your acceptance email, at least seven days before the registration deadline. When you register, you can indicate if you'd like to present a talk or poster about your research (this is encouraged but not required). You will need to register by the deadline contained in the acceptance email from the APS CUWiP organizers, or your slot at the conference may be transferred to a student on the wait list.

5. Attend.
We look forward to seeing you (for the entire meeting) in January! Your registration fee and support from our sponsors will cover all costs of food, lodging, local transportation, and conference activities.
